The catch: Airbnb is in the middle of raising the effective host-side service fee from roughly 3% (split with guests) to a single ~15.5% fee taken entirely out of the host's payout, rolling out to all remaining split-fee hosts by September 15, 2026 outside the EEA and October 13, 2026 inside it — a real cut into margin that existing hosts did not choose and must actively reprice around, layered on top of AirCover protections that explicitly exclude normal wear-and-tear, acts of nature, and injury/damage to the guest themselves.

The catch: You are putting your own car (and its depreciation, wear, and up to $2,750 per incident) on the line for a gross average Turo itself admits ignores maintenance and insurance, with no coverage for lost income while the car sits in a body shop.

The catch: The Host Guarantee — Neighbor's main protection for hosts — is explicitly stated to not be insurance, caps at $1,000,000 lifetime with a $1,000 loss floor and broad exclusions, and Neighbor itself carries no insurance on stored items, so a host whose renter damages their driveway or garage (as multiple third-party complaints describe) may recover little and can face slow, unresponsive support trying to get it resolved.
